Brief history

INTRODUCTION

The College of Technology is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) established institution. It was approved by the federal government of Nigeria in 2009 and accredited by the National board for Technical Education (NBTE); and listed on Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB)

The College of Technology is intended to be locally and internationally unique in its programme focus; the curriculum is designed to ensure that its graduates are computer literate, staff and students are linked with industries to support economic and enterprise development, as well as technological transfer.

 VISION

The vision of The College of Technology is to be a world-renowned institution that is committed to the development and transformation of society through environmentally friendly technology and other innovations.

 MISSION

The Mission of the Institution may be summarized as to discover, disseminate and apply the knowledge of science and technology for human well-being and the development of society.

The primary purpose of The College of Technology is to provide quality instruction and practical exposure in information and communication technology; and technology management. The The College of Technologycurriculum strikes a balance between pursuit of knowledge for its own sake and pursuit of practical knowledge needed in the workplace and society in general. Consequently, the academic programmes emphasize a high quality , comprehensive, discipline-based education with intense application of existing and emerging technologies, and the ultimate goal to produce job creators rather than job seekers.

PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of the institution is to reflect its motto; Development through technology.

The philosophy is guided by the following factors:

Ø      The need to create an environment conducive for teaching, learning, research and goal character building.

Ø      The increasing need to pay attention t o the provision of all-round education and training for students.

Ø      The need to nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship in students.

Ø      The emerging economist are now technology-driven; hence, there is an urgent need to expose staff as well as students , irrespective of their discipline, to the tools of information and communication technology (ICT) through exposure to computer usage, access to the internet and the information superhighway.

In keeping with the foregoing, The College of Technology admits only the best out of the available qualified candidates, based on NBTE criteria. To end, the institution conducts her admission through JAMB examination, for prospective students. Never the less, admission is open to all, irrespective of gender, tribe , race or religion.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of The College of Technology is to provide an enabling environment for effective learning of technical and practical oriented programmes and applying the result of research at the cutting-edge of science and technology. Emphasis are placed on areas of training that are suitable for self employment creation and on those that have relevance to social, cultural, economic and scientific and technology needs in Nigeria.
